At the end of the NN5 Talent Development Pathway, actors may be offered the opportunity to capture their work professionally for showreel use.

This service is optional and only recommended where the work is ready to be represented on screen.

NN5 partners with Sebastian Thiel, a film director with a strong reputation for developing grounded, truthful screen performances.

Sebastian Thiel’s career in filmmaking began in 2008, following a pivot from aspirations in professional basketball. He went on to establish Upshot Entertainment, producing short films and comedy sketches and distributing his self-produced work online. His early projects gained significant attention, including recognition from Richard Branson, who highlighted him as a Virgin Media Pioneer.

By 2012, Sebastian was named on the Evening Standard’s Top 25 Under 25 Most Influential Londoners, and his short film Illegal Activity received the Screen Nation Digital Award. His documentary Trap Town, exploring the 2011 England riots, later aired on London Live.

In 2017, Sebastian wrote, directed, and edited the BBC Three comedy series Just a Couple, produced by Big Talk Productions, starring Frieda Thiel, Michael Salami, Weruche Opia, and Sean Sagar. The series received multiple industry awards, including Favourite Comedy Production at Screen Nation and Debut Writer at The Debbies, and contributed to his inclusion on the BBC New Talent Hotlist, curated by Idris Elba and Tony Hall.
